This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through tangentbrokerage.com and our related services, how we use and share it, how we handle text messaging (SMS/MMS) consent, and the choices available to you.

We collect the information you choose to give us through our contact, seller inquiry, buyer inquiry, listing inquiry, valuation, and non-disclosure agreement (NDA) forms, or when you email, call, or text us. This typically includes:

  • Email address
  • Mobile or other telephone number
  • Your role (buyer, seller, banker, attorney, CPA, broker, realtor, or other)
  • The content of your message or inquiry, and the listing or industry you are interested in
  • Business and financial information you voluntarily share so we can prepare a valuation or a Confidential Information Memorandum — for example revenue, earnings, add-backs, assets, and ownership details
  • Information contained in an NDA you sign electronically, including your signature, title, and company name

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, our servers and hosting provider automatically record standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. We use this information to operate the site securely and to understand which pages are useful to visitors.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies that allow the website to function — for example to maintain your session and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. 3. Text messaging (SMS/MMS) and your consent

Our text messaging program is called Tangent Brokerage Alerts.

End users opt in to receive SMS messages from Tangent Brokerage by voluntarily providing their mobile phone number through a form on our website, by requesting information from Tangent Brokerage, or by giving their number to one of our brokers in person, by phone, or by email, and by explicitly agreeing to receive text messages regarding their inquiry, requested business opportunities, appointments, and brokerage services. Consent to receive text messages is never a condition of any purchase or of receiving our services.

Our web forms present separate, clearly labeled consent checkboxes so that you may agree to non-marketing (transactional) messages, marketing messages, both, or neither. These boxes are never pre-checked — you must affirmatively check the one you want, and you may submit any form without checking either:

  • Non-marketing / transactional messages — replies to your inquiry, appointment reminders, document and NDA status, and listing or transaction updates.
  • Marketing messages — new business listings, valuation offers, and other promotional information from Tangent Brokerage.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out of further messages, and reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at 630-862-5234 or info@TangentBrokerage.com. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Information sharing with subcontractors in support services, such as our customer relationship management platform and our SMS messaging provider, is permitted solely so that we can deliver the messages you asked for. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. Tangent Brokerage does not sell, rent, or lease mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in data.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in the limited circumstances below:

  • Service providers. We use vetted vendors to run our business — website and database hosting, email delivery, our CRM, electronic signature, and our SMS/MMS messaging provider (Twilio). They may process your information only to perform services for us, under contract, and may not use it for their own marketing.
  • Business listing marketplaces. Anonymized listing information we publish (never your personal contact details) may appear on business-for-sale marketplaces we advertise through.
  • Transaction participants. With your authorization, and subject to a signed non-disclosure agreement, we may share business information with qualified buyers, sellers, lenders, attorneys, accountants, and other professionals involved in your transaction.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or regulator, or where necessary to protect our rights, safety, or property, or to investigate fraud or a security incident.
  • Business transfer. If Tangent Brokerage is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

5. Confidentiality of business information

Confidentiality is central to how we work. Seller financials, operational details, and identifying information are disclosed to prospective buyers only after the buyer has been screened and has signed a non-disclosure agreement. Public listings and marketing materials are written so that the business is not identifiable.

6. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide our services and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, accounting, tax, and professional recordkeeping obligations, to maintain records of consent (including SMS opt-in and opt-out), and to resolve disputes. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.

7. Security

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption of website traffic (HTTPS), restricted access to systems that hold client data, and vendor agreements that require confidentiality. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send sensitive financial documents by unencrypted email or text.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Text messages. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts, or contact us and ask to be removed.
  • Email. Use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email, or email us at info@TangentBrokerage.com. We may still send you transactional messages about an active engagement.
  • Phone. Ask us to place your number on our internal do-not-call list.
  • Access, correction, and deletion. You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond as required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity first, and we may retain information we are legally required to keep.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

9. Third-party links

Our website links to third-party sites, including business-for-sale marketplaces and social media. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. Please review their privacy policies before providing information to them.
